Guidelines for Poster Submission

The San Antonio Nursing Consortium (SANC) is pleased to announce the Call for Poster Abstracts for the 2024 SANC Annual Patient Safety Conference. This year's theme, "Safer Together: The Intersection of Nurse Well-Being, Healthy Work Environment, and Patient Safety," emphasizes the crucial link between nurse well-being, a supportive work environment, and the overall safety of patients.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Abstract Length: Limited to 500 words, excluding the title.

  2. Content: Include a description of the project or subject matter, methodology if applicable, analysis, and results.

  3. Anonymity: Remove all references to names and organizations within the body text to maintain anonymity.

  4. Evaluation: The SANC Planning Committee will review and evaluate abstracts based on content relevance, evidence-based support, and quality of writing. Abstracts promoting products will not be considered.

Focus Areas:

Nurse Well-Being: Focus on the physical, mental, and emotional health of nurses. Recognizes that nurses who are well-supported and healthy are better equipped to provide high-quality patient care

  • Identify and address factors contributing to nurse burnout and stress.

  • Promote initiatives and programs that support nurse wellness (e.g., mental health resources, physical health programs, work-life balance).

  • Encourage leadership to prioritize nurse well-being in organizational policies.

Healthy Work Environment: Pertains to creating a workplace that fosters respect, support, and professional growth for nurses.

  • Develop strategies to improve workplace culture and reduce workplace violence or harassment.

  • Implement policies that ensure safe staffing levels, adequate resources, and opportunities for professional development.

  • Foster a culture of open communication, where nurses feel valued and heard.

Patient Safety: Focuses on implementing practices and protocols that ensure patients receive the safest possible care.

  • Share best practices and innovative solutions for preventing medical errors and adverse events.

  • Enhance reporting systems and learning mechanisms for continuous improvement in patient safety.

  • Explore the impact of nurse well-being and work environment on patient outcomes.

Submission Deadline:

  • Poster abstracts can be submitted via the online form below. Any related questions should be submitted to sanursingconsortium@gmail.com.

  • The last day for submission is July 20th.

Information on Authors:

  • List each author's first name, last name, credentials, and employer.

  • Separate individual author information with a semicolon.

  • Provide contact details for one author (name, email, and/or phone number).

Review and Selection Process:

  • Abstracts are evaluated through a blind review process by the SANC Planning Committee and designated reviewers.

  • Abstracts must meet all criteria and adhere to submission instructions to be reviewed.

  • Notification of acceptance will be sent by the end of July.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC-COA) has adopted the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education* and acknowledges that many healthcare professionals have financial relationships with eligible companies. ANCC defines ineligible organizations as those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, reselling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. These relationships must not influence accredited continuing education.
